The University College has a thriving media and communication environment- Journalism Club publishes Oracle its own magazine. Students produce short films, TV and Radio programmes from MMU 99.9 FM Radio station. Training is conducted in a state of the art media studios equipped with latest video and audio editing suites, providing students with a stimulating and exciting context in which to undertake their studies.
The Faculty of Media and Communication is arguably the only such faculty in Kenya. We pride ourselves as offering the first and only degree programme in Film Production and Animation. We have some of the best-equipped media and communication labs, including more than 22 high-end I-Mac computers, many Multimedia PCs, professional TV cameras and state-of-the-art audio and visual recording, editing and post-production equipment. We have a Radio Station that broadcasts 24 hours and an excellent TV Studio. Our TV station will go on air in the near future. The faculty has two departments: Journalism and Communication and Film and Broadcast Production. Our staff is highly experienced and dedicated. The faculty offers certificate, diploma and degree programmes in Mass Communication and in Film Production and Animation. We therefore provide students with the best possible resources for training in Journalism (Print and Broadcast), Multimedia and Animation and TV and Radio Production. From September this year (2012), we shall offer two more stand-alone degree programmes: Bachelor of Journalism (B. Journ) and Bachelor of Applied Communication (B.A.C). The B.A.C degree will have two specializations, namely Corporate Communication and Health and Development Communication.
Ndeti Ndati is the Associate Dean, Department of Journalism and Communication studies, Faculty of Media and Communications at Multimedia University. He is a PhD student in Communication and Information studies at the School of Journalism, University Nairobi. Mr. Ndeti holds a Master of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Nairobi. Nancy Booker has taught Communication – Journalism and Electronic Media, for the last eleven years at Daystar University and now at Multimedia University of Kenya. She gained professional experience in journalism when she worked for KBC and Nation Media Group as a programmes producer and programme researcher respectively. Wilson ugangu Benson Mbugua Travelled, worked and trained and attended conferences and seminars in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, South Africa, England, United States, Netherlands, England, France, Belgium Sylvia Machine Collins Wagumba Eunice Omondi Laban Frazier
