Mending the bridge

After qualifying for nationwide league by beating 18 teams including the ‘Black Blad’ of Kenyatta University, Multimedia University rugby team “The Hawks’ had a labored start to the Franchise cup ‘The Chairman’s Cup’ when they lost to Nakuru 96-0 last weekend.
However, ‘The Hawks’ are rolling their sleeves up as they seek to claw their way back in the tournament next weekend when they will take on Nondies after the axing by Nakuru.


Rugby captain Remming Washialu is however confident that they will rise up to the occasion against the Nondies and prove their worth.
“Even though we are in this league especially to gain experience, we’ve go to be stronger, more stable so as to prove that we did not qualifying for national league with just a sheer luck,” notes Remmington.


Meanwhile, MMU football team are laying down strategies that see then register a win next weekend after being slummed by JK Safaris 3-1 and Bull bull 2-0 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.


The team which is having one point after playing five games in the Football Kenya Federation Kajiado branch league has found themselves in unfamiliar territory but is confident that all is not lost.


The MMU football coach Elly Adero notes that it has not been easy adding that in their first match against Kiseria FC, they arrived late in the pitch a move that saw their opponents being given a work over match.


He however reiterated that they need to focus on the remaining games a move on adding that they can’t afford another slip-up after those series of disappointments.


“Its time we knuckle down, do our job and focus in winning the remaining games. We really have to push ourselves regardless of the situation we are in,” says Adero.


All eyes are now set on the rugby and football teams as the weekend approaches and everyone is waiting with baited breath see the two teams walk their talk as the demand to perform cannot be gainsaid.
