Multimedia University signed a memorandum of understanding with Bright Visions Media (BVM), a branch of CCTV on Wednesday, 20th June, 2012. This was done by The Principal, Prof. Walter O. Oyawa and the Chairman of BVM, Mr. David Liang, in the presence of the Deputy Principal, Research, Production and Extension, Prof. Douglas Shitanda among others.
The MOU aims at setting out an arrangement for an Internship Programme for the most outstanding and disciplined finalist or graduate students at BVM which has very strict standards concerning internships. Already, 8 students from the Faculty of Media and Communication are interning with them and their hard work and commitment has already been noted.
CCTV Africa is recruiting fresh blood and is keen on giving local staff an international platform to express themselves. With the hard work shown by the interns, there is a prospect of them being absorbed as official staff after the internship,†said Mr. Liang.
In his comments, Prof. Oyawa stated that MMU is an institution established with a clear niche which is ICT and Multimedia and such partnerships will give our students an edge that others don’t have, therefore, giving them an added advantage.
BVM and MMU look forward to having a long cooperation that we hope will expand beyond internships.
