Multimedia University College (MMU) of Kenya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) to facilitate the launch of unified programs, promote faculty and staff exchange programs, conduct joint training programs and foster academic and research collaboration.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Ambassador of Kenya to Thailand, H.E. Dr. Richard Titus Ekai who complimented AIT for its role in Asia. “AIT can expand its programs in Kenya, and MMU can facilitate AIT’s venture,” H.E. Dr. Ekai remarked. “I am very happy that MMU and AIT are collaborating with each other and expanding their activities,” he added.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Walter Odhiambo Oyawa, Principal, MMU, and Prof. Said Irandoust, President, AIT on 29 February 2012.

Prof. Oyawa stated that MMU was proud to be associated with AIT, and both can work towards development of joint programs. Prof. Irandoust remarked that “AIT is looking forward towards contributing towards human resource development in Kenya.”

Dr. Jonathan Shaw, Executive Director, AIT Extension said that AIT is keen to launch an agriculture and business program with a partner in Kenya. AIT Extension has been successfully running an agriculture and business program in Asia, and we are seeking to expand it to Oceania and Africa, he said. Dr. Shaw hoped that he would lead a delegation of AIT Extension officials to Kenya to formalize this partnership.

Both the management and the Council of MMU were a part of the delegation which held wide ranging talks with AIT officials. The delegation also included Amb. Green H.O. Josiah, Member, Multimedia University Council; Mr. John M. Katuku, Member, Multimedia University Council, and former Ministry of Water, Republic of Kenya; Mr. Joshua Muiruri, Member , Multimedia University Council; and Prof. J.Gitile Naituli, Deputy Principal, Administration and Finance, MMU.

Prof. I.M.Pandey, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Associate Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SET); Dr. Roland Amoussou-Guenou, adjunct faculty, School of Management (SOM), AIT and Senior Legal Adviser, AIT; Ms. Tiamkare Thitithamtada and Mr. Tenzin Rabgyal, Senior Program Officers, External Relations and Communications Office (ERCO) also participated the meeting.
