MMU alumni Mukhusiah is Bonga Boli winner Michael Were Mukhusiah

Michael Were Mukhusiah is the winner of SuperSport’s Bonga Boli competition.

The former Multimedia University of Kenya student edged out Mohammed Rashid Mwamkondo, Peter Kirumba and Abdinoor Aden Maalim to emerge victorious and with it a chance to join SuperSport’s expert commentary team.

It was the climax of SuperSport’s search for KiSwahili commentator on a night of thrilling drama and tension as the competition ended in a grand finale.

Having been narrowed down to four, each of the finalists then had to commentate on a one minute clip of a Kenyan Premier League match before the judges narrowed them to two with Kirumba and Mwamkondo being axed.

“I am so glad I have won. I tried as much as possible to nurture my talent and since childhood I have always loved soccer. Its in my blood and I want to thank everyone; the judges, contestants and SuperSport for this opportunity,” said Mukhusiah.

“I know it’s a tough challenge but I have a number of people I team up with to shape me up in my career. I want to be the best in Kiswahili commentary and am very sure I will uplift the name of SuperSport in Africa.”

For the losing finalists, it was huge disappointment.

“I am wondering how life will go on without football. I don’t know what to say. I have to put so much into this competition and it’s so disappointing to lose. I will continue in football and because I believe there is some space for me in it,” said Kirumba.

“The ending of a chapter is the beginning of another…whatever the judges have felt I missed , I will go work on it and get it right,” said Mwamkondo.

The eight week competition saw over a thousand contestants in auditions held in Mombasa, Kisumu and Nairobi.

I am so gratful to The Multimedia fraternity for the noble reception accorded to me when I visited the institution last Thursday. I have set the pace and now it's up to my brothers and sisters to maintain it to the end. We have all it takes to command the rest in academics and performance in the outside world.
Multimedia University is one big family thence lets join hands in working together for prosperity. Always think Big... Think Right, Go Right and do Right.
