“Internet is a leveled playing field and opportunities that are presented using online are significant provided you have a domain.” These were the words of the Google-Kenya Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Joe Mucheru to Multimedia University Students when he gave a motivational talk at the institution’s conference hall on 8th June this year.

The CEO challenged the students that, just with an internet connection at their disposal; they were capable of becoming micro-multinationals to compete with other technology firms like Google, Facebook among others in equal measure. He says the only way to achieve this was through embracing creativity and at the same time becoming innovative.

“You start by giving the user what exactly they want. This ensures that you remain relevant because people are using different platforms of technology and what you are giving out must be relevant and available,” notes Mucheru.

Mucheru says that innovation has become cheap as everything is being localized to user individual adding that starting point is through identifying the most basic thing.

“Innovation and technology that we need are going to come from you and talent is the most important asset in the attainment this,” says the CEO.

He urged the students to become more proactive in digital content generation adding that innovations like cloud computing technology is on the verge of growing huge.

“Cloud computing technology is soon blowing up and this is where we will be able to do unlimited processing and data storage for the generated content,” reveals Mucheru.

The Google-Kenya boss who was also flanked the Dean Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (CIT) Mr. John Walubengo, also reminded the students of the four important Be’s in strategizing.

He told them to always; be relevant, be accountable, be engaging and be found adding that without the four be’s,  it will be very difficult for them to be strategically placed in the competitive global market.

His sentiments were echoed by Mr. Walubengo who also challenged the students to strive towards producing the Google of tomorrow adding that they were better placed and portends a greater potential of making each dream come true.
