MMU's application for membership was  accepted at this year's EACO19th meeting, held in Bujumbura, Burundi from 28th May to 1st June, This was done in the presence of the Principal, Prof. Walter O. Oyawa and two other officers from the University College; Mrs. Mary Mukabi and Mrs. Dorothy Odhiambo.

EACO is an inter-governmental organization which brings together Communication organizations of the East Africa Community with the aim of developing and harmonizing their technical operations and ensuring that the Human Resources required for the sector are appropriately trained and developed. In addition to working task forces that deal with specific technical issues, it organizes annual Assemblies and Congress meetings on rotational basis in the five East African Community member countries. The attendees of these meetings are regulators, telecommunication operators, postal operators, broadcasters, universities and researchers among others.

MMU is the second training institution in Kenya to join in after African Advanced Level Training Institute (AFRALTI). It is set to benefit greatly from this as all the above organizations need training in their respective areas which MMU will be glad to offer as this is in line with our vision "To be a world-class center of excellence in training, research and innovation in cutting edge ICT and multimedia technologies". MMU can also work with the members to conduct research on the problems ailing these industries and possible solutions to them.

We are proud of this step which now allows us better access to the East African Region and we look forward to the mutually beneficial relationships we will cultivate in these region.
