Faculty of Computing and IT

 

Faculty of Computing and Information Technology was created out of computer studies section of former KCCT.

 

Specializes in offering industry driven IT products using state of the art technology.

 

Targets both local and regional market


Welcome to the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (CIT), where there is a growing passion for learning, research and innovation. The faculty runs three distinctive undergraduate programmes (BSc. in Information Technology, Bsc in Computer Technology and Bachelor of Business Information Technology in collaboration with the University of Greenwich to produce innovative graduates of high caliber.

 

In response to customer demand we also run diploma programmes to cater for school leavers namely IMIS Foundation, International diploma in Computer Studies (IDCS) and International Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies (IADCS), to prepare them for advanced training in computing.

 

These programmes are taught by qualified academic staff that are dynamic, experienced and highly committed to excellence. The academic programs are constantly updated to reflect the rapidly changing ICT technologies. Through the dedicated efforts of the faculty community - staff and students, the faculty has produced quality graduates who have achieved exceptional employment rate. It is also not uncommon to walk into any organization today and find our alumni.

 

The faculty has embarked on becoming an international ICT center for excellence in research and innovation. To achieve this, the faculty is in the process of implementing measures to create a good environment and culture for undertaking consultancy research and innovation. To this end, three departments of excellence will be created: The departments of Information Technology, Computer Science and Mathematics and Actuarial Science. The new academic programmes to be launched next year include; BSc in Computer Science, BSc in Actuarial Science and BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science. Postgraduate programmes will also be launched soon.

 

This publication has been prepared to provide you, our clients, a comprehensive idea of the courses; undergraduate and skill development levels. Finally, I hope that the learning experiences that you obtain from the faculty and university college will be one that you cherish dearly.

    Am Erick Oduor from Kisumu, was to join MMU for Bsc. Computer Science in January 2013 intake but am forced to move it to May 2013. Will you have an intake in May 2013?

    Am a 2nd yr in MMU doing Bsc.MCS.My biggest worry is why is it that in the 3rd yr when we shall be specializing, there are no choices that are computer related fields in our specialization. Pliz advice
