Varsity strategic plan development workshop enters day two

A three day strategic plan development workshop for the period 2017 to 2021, that kicked off on Wednesday, November 16th at Hotel Cathay in Nakuru County has entered its second day with focus shifting to strategy formulation.


This came after a successful day one session that looked at the performance evaluation of the ending strategic plan, the degree of implementation, achievements realized, challenges faced and the situational analysis of the plan.


Speaking during the opening of day two of the workshop, the Vice Chancellor Amb. Prof. Festus Kaberia expressed confidence that the university will be able to produce the first draft of the plan by the end of the workshop.


The VC who was also accompanied the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Rosebella Maranga and Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Research and Innovation Prof. Paul Mbatia, called for a participative approach from the members to come up with a document that will guide the university for the next five years.


Speaking earlier, Kenya School of Government, Associate Consultant Mathew Malinda also called for the spirit of quality, content and competiveness among the members in the development process

He said that strategic plan document is not just a deliverable of performance contract or a compliance instrument, but a road map and an instrument of performances management system for the university in the next five years.

The day two session will focus on the development of mission, vision motto, core value, strategic goals, institutional capacity and resources mobilization, risk management framework among others.

 

The three day excercise will end on Friday, November 18th 2016. The institution seeks to become an internationally acclaimed institution recognized for the quality of its academic programmes, research and innovation.
