MMU wins third PRSK students bootcamp competition

Multimedia University of Kenya’s public relations students emerged the winners of this year’s Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Bootcamp competition held at Mount Kenya University on Friday, 12th October, 2018.

The students, through their Corporate Communication Club, edged out over ten competing universities to emerge the best in formulating, pitching and presenting a crisis communication strategy.

According to the judging criteria, areas for assessment included the knowledge and understanding of the crisis communication, clarity of ideas, ease of adoption of the strategy and its presentation during the pitch.

While announcing the winning university, PRSK Council Member, Tim Kamuzu Banda lauded the MMU student for their understanding and clear grasp of a crisis communication strategy, terming their presentation as unique.

“This team introduced us to new words, their presentation was unique and their steps were in order,” said Banda while announcing MMU as the winning team.

The MMU Corporate Communication Club Chairperson Ms. Daisy Yator attributed their victory to team work, preparation and determination having participated in the Bootcamp since the inception of the competition.

The event brings together practitioners and professionals in the public relations industry, presenting them with a platform to nurture their skills and widen their network.

This year’s event was graced by ODM’s Communication Director, Mr. Philip Etale, US Embassy’s New Media Specialist Amos Rono, and the Corporate Communication Officer at PSI Kenya Mr. Andrew Juma among others.

As the winners of the competition, MMU will host the 4th PRSK Bootcamp in October next year.
