Dr. Willy Mutunga urges youth to be beacon of Kenya

Former Chief Justice, Dr. Willy Mutunga has called upon Kenyan youth to embrace a culture of peace, value based leadership that prides itself in unity and respect to humanity.


Speaking at Multimedia University of Kenya during an exhibition by Team Courage to showcase heroes and heroines in our society, Dr. Mutunga said that youth must shun divisiveness, corruption and ethnicity and build a society that embraces unity and humanity.

In an interactive question and answer session with the students, Dr. Mutunga noted that some of the major problems the nation faces are corruption, ethnicity, politics of division and gambling.


However, he told the youth that they have the capacity to make this country a better place by using their knowledge and skills to make a change to will make the country a better place.


The former Chief Justice also urged the youth to think critically about the change the they want for this country and how they can take part in bringing that right change.


His sentiments were echoed by Team Courage Founder, Boniface Mwangi who said that a better country is possible by standing up and making the right and informed decisions.


“Find that one thing you really want to do and go for it,” said Mwangi while urging the youth to be courageous and brave to bring the right change for the nation.


The exhibition gave MMU community the opportunity to view photos and read stories of Kenyan heroes and heroines in a captivating manner, evoking memories of the various roles played by freedom fighters heroes and the Kenyan journey towards a better nation in the 21st Century.

Team Courage is visiting the universities across the country to ensure that youth become active agents of change that is built on unity, respect to humanity, public transparency and accountability for a better Kenya.


The event was organized by the outgoing Student Governing Council (SGC) coordinated by the Council Treasurer Ms. Lilian Mbugua with support from the Dean of Student Mr. Shadrack Kirunga and the Corporate Affairs Department.
