Centre for Further Education

Introduction

In order to gain a competitive advantage in the rapidly advancing ICT sector, one needs to acquire the relevant skills. The centre for further education creates this advantage by offering skills courses as the market demands. This is to complement the Academic programmes by offering students a chance to do extensive practical work on existing training modules at the centre and experience real work situations through field visits and attachments.

The centre relies on the long history that MMU has of offering training in advanced telecommunications, computing, postal and business training to the employees of various telecommunications service providers. These have included Telkom Kenya Limited (TKL) and other national telephone operators in the African region, Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) and other postal organizations in the African region, Communication Commission of Kenya (CCK) and other regulators in the region, Government ministries, and Private organisations.

The centre is open to develop custom made courses to meet specific customer needs. In addition courses can be on campus, at customer premises or at hired premises.

Message from Director

Welcome to the Centre for further education where we believe in creating wholesome graduates who are ready to work in the ICT sector and related professions.

We offer short skills courses in line with our core Academic specializations, mainly Engineering and Technology, Computing and Information Technology, Media and Communications and Business studies.

We explore our vast resources which include very well versed and experienced resource persons, state of the art labs and a wide range of communication equipment. To share expert experience, we invite technocrats and executives in various fields to share their experiences with our students.

We are open to holding courses, seminars and workshops at the college, at customer premises or even in hired premises.

Mrs Dorothy Odhiambo

Director, Centre for Further Studies

I am quite impressed by the fact that you are still offering the above short courses which have been ignored by every other college. When are these courses beginning in 2013?
