Prof. Rosebella Maranga appointed MMU Ag. VC
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has appointed Prof. Rosebella Maranga as MMU Ag. Vice Chancellor for a period of six months.
Prof. Maranga takes over from Amb.Prof. Festus Kaberia, whose term ended on 16th January 2024. Until her appointment, Prof. Maranga has been the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Finance and Planning.
Alongside Prof. Maranga, the CS has also appointed Prof. Geofrey Kihara as Ag. DVC Administration, Finance and Planning and Prof. Livingstone Ngoo as Ag. Vice Chancellpor Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation.
Prof. Kihara, who until his appointment was the Director National Institute for Optics and Lasers, takes over from Prof. Maranga.
Prof. Ngoo, who is also the Director Postgraduate Studies, takes over from outgoing DVC Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation Prof. Paul Mbatia.
Speaking during handing over ceremony at the university, Prof. Maranga pledged to continue with the progressive, dialogic and unity style of leadership that was being used by Prof. Kaberia, saying that the university can only grow further through team work, consultation and unity of purpose.
“As I take over this great responsibility, I will endeavor to ensure that we work as a team that talks to each other and reason together to create a unity of purpose,” said Prof. Maranga.
Prof. Maranga thanked the Education CS Dr. Machogu and the MMU Council for giving her the responsibility of leading the university as the Ag. VC.
The exercise was presided over by Ag. Chairman of Council Hon Moses Ole Sakuda and the outgoing Chairman of Council Prof. Johnstone Kiamba.
On his part, Hon. Sakuda appealed to the new management to always uphold integrity, honesty and rule of law in service delivery.
“Provide selfless service to all the staff without reference to tribe, unfair treatment or discrimination. You are inheriting a stable institution and it is our hope as Council that this university will continue to grow in the coming years,” said Hon. Sakuda.
Hon. Sakuda also received Council exit report from Prof. Kiamba.
