MMU currently has six faculties, 12 departments and 3 directorates offering Degrees, Diploma and Certificate programmes.

Our Academic Programmes are designed in consultation with regulatory bodies and relevant stakeholders to ensure quality education.

Faculties and Academic Programmes

MMU’s academic programmes have been among the most sought after courses in the country in the last five successive years. MMU currently has six faculties, fifteen departments and Five directorates offering Degrees, Diploma and Certificate programmes.

Our Academic Programmes are designed in consultation with regulatory bodies and relevant stakeholders to ensure quality education. Currently, MMU has a total of fifty-three (53) academic programmes distributed per level of study as follows:

  1. Sixteen (16) Masters degree programmes
  2. Twenty-four (24) Bachelors degree programs
  3. Eleven (11) Diploma programmes
  4. Three (3) Certificate programmes

In March 2019, Multimedia University of Kenya established a National Institute for Optics & Lasers (NIOL). This happened as a result of an infrastructure grant by the National Research Fund (NRF) to the University to establish a National Center for Training and Research in Optics and Lasers.

The National Institute for Optics and Lasers will train students in the area of Optics and Lasers at certificate, diploma, undergraduate and Postgraduate levels and conduct research in the same discipline. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) refers to education and training that focuses on the acquisition of practical skills and knowledge needed for a particular trade or occupation. TVET programs typically combine theoretical instruction with hands-on learning experiences, often in a workplace or industry setting.

The MMU TVET department offers Diploma courses in different fields with the aim of imparting technical skills to our students. The Board of Postgraduate Studies (BPS) plays a pivotal role in managing  postgraduate programmes within MMU. Tasked with the coordination of these programs, the BPS collaborates closely with the respective Faculties & Institutes where these programs are anchored to senselessly run the programmes. Our primary objectives revolve around fostering research excellence, generating and disseminating cutting-edge knowledge, and nurturing professional proficiency across various disciplines.
