MMU’s Kenya-Korea IAC tops 2025 administrator training in Seoul

NIA’s Vice President Dr. Yoonseok Ko presents MMU’s Kenya-Korea IAC team with an award for being the  best IAC’s team overall during the 2025 IAC Administrator Training in Seoul, South Korea.


 

The Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) Kenya-Korea Information Access Centre (IAC) emerged best-performing Centre at this year’s 2025 IAC Administrator Training Program held in Seoul, Korea, last month.

In an intensive 11-day program that brought together representatives from 12 countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Colombia, Vietnam, Paraguay, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Ukraine, MMU Kenya-Korea IAC, presented by the centre manager Judith Shali, Administrator Kelvin Kariuki, and IT Specialist Geoffrey Manoti — received top awards for presenting innovative solutions to challenges facing IACs, particularly in areas of emerging technologies and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The training, organized by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) in partnership with global technology leaders and leading institutions such as the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), e-learning, and digital transformation. Participants also received practical training in effective management and sustainability of IACs.
