In a move aimed at celebrating academic excellence and encouraging a culture of hard work among students, Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) will, for the first time, recognize top graduating student in each faculty in the upcoming 12th graduation ceremony.
On Friday, 31st October, 2025, six outstanding students will receive accolades at the graduation dais, with each receiving a Certificate of Excellence, as the best-performing student in their respective faculties in the 2024/2025 academic year.

During a meeting with the students, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Rosebella Maranga, who was also flanked by Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Research and Innovation Prof. Livingstone Ngoo, congratulated the students for their exemplary performance and hard work, noting that the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to rewarding diligence and promote academic excellence across all faculties.
“This recognition is meant to motivate our students to aim higher and to celebrate those who demonstrate academic excellence in their areas of study,” says the Vice Chancellor.

The VC urged the students to come back and undertake their postgraduate studies at MMU, saying that the university has developed market-oriented Masters degrees and in also in the process of developing more PhD courses across its six faculties.
On his part, Prof. Livingstone Ngoo commended the graduands for their efforts and commitment to academic excellence, urging them to keep striving for greater heights and continue being MMU ambassadors of excellence.
In the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Kithuka Joseph Ngweti emerged top, and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (First Class Honors). Mwongela Vivian Mumbi, who will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation and Control (First Class Honors), is recognized from the Faculty of Science and Technology, while Grace Wambui Njuguna is the best student in the Faculty of Business and Economics, as she will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science (First Class Honors).

In the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Njau Mwaura George has earned recognition for his outstanding performance, and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (First Class Honors). The Faculty of Media and Communication honors Muli Miriam Wayua, who will be graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism (First Class Honors), while Ouma Jennifer Amanda Amondi from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology, will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology Option, First Class Honors) as the top student from the faculty.
