Multimedia University of Kenya Ag. Chancellor Dr. Albert Kochei, has urged graduates to become solution creators and ethical leaders who will shape Africa’s sustainable prosperity through innovation, resilience, and responsible citizenship.
Speaking during MMU’s 12th Graduation Ceremony, Dr. Kochei commended the over 1,500 graduates who were conferred with various degrees and awarded diplomas and certificates for their hard work and perseverance, emphasizing that graduation marks a transition rather than an end.
“You have walked a journey of discipline, sacrifice, and perseverance,” he said. “But this graduation is not an end — it is a transition. You are stepping into a world that demands creativity, innovation, and resilience.”
Dr. Kochei reminded graduates that the world they are entering is fast-changing and demands thinkers who can provide practical, innovative solutions to global challenges. He urged them to use the knowledge and skills gained at MMU to become drivers of change, not passive observers.

“The call today is clear — be part of the solution,” he stated. “Be the generation that propels Africa toward sustainable prosperity through innovation, ethical leadership, and responsible citizenship.”
He emphasized that the education acquired at MMU must translate into real-world impact, helping to solve pressing societal and technological challenges facing Kenya and the wider continent.
Dr. Kochei underscored that learning does not end with graduation, but is a continuous process that refines purpose and expands one’s impact.
He encouraged graduates to pursue further education at every stage of their careers, saying that lifelong learning remains the cornerstone of transformation in an increasingly knowledge-driven world.
“Education is a lifelong journey that refines your purpose and expands your impact,” he said. “Those with certificates should go for diplomas, those with diplomas for degrees — and onward. Education remains your most powerful tool for transformation.”
Dr. Kochei also thanked parents, guardians, and sponsors for their sacrifices and belief in their children’s potential, acknowledging their crucial role in shaping the success of the graduates.

“Your commitment, unwavering prayers, and sacrifices have nurtured these graduates to this moment of triumph,” he said. “You have invested not only in education but in the future of our country.”
Dr. Kochei reminded graduates that they are now official ambassadors of MMU, entrusted with carrying the university’s values of integrity, service, and excellence into the world.
“Let your light shine wherever you go,” he urged. “Let it reflect the quality of education you have received at this great institution.”
He announced that MMU is strengthening its alumni network and endowment fund to foster continued engagement with graduates and expand support for institutional growth and innovation.
