Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rosebella Maranga, on Sunday afternoon received Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. FCPA John Mbadi, during a courtesy call and bursary issuance exercise at the university.
The Treasury CS was at MMU to preside over issuance of bursaries to more than 500 bright students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds drawn from Nairobi County and who were represented by their parents and guardians.
Welcoming the CS to the university, Prof. Maranga expressed appreciation for Government’s continued support to public universities, and education sector as a whole, noting that such interventions play a critical role in ensuring that financial constraints do not derail students’ academic ambitions.

Prof. Maranga affirmed MMU’s alignment with key national development frameworks, including Kenya Vision 2030 (MTP IV) and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
She explained that the university’s programmes directly support priority sectors such as the Digital Superhighway, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the creative economy, healthcare, agriculture and affordable housing.
Prof. Maranga also outlined MMU’s priority funding needs, particularly the construction of a more lecture halls and resource centres to enhance teaching, learning, research and innovation, as well as support for strategic capital projects aimed at improving student accommodation capacity within the institution.

The Vice Chancellor reaffirmed MMU’s commitment to accountability, efficiency and value for public investment, and appealed for continued partnership and support from the National Treasury to enable the university to fully deliver on its national mandate.
