Multimedia University of Kenya Vice Chancellor of Prof. Rosebella Maranga has called on newly elected student leaders to embrace servant leadership as they assume office.
Speaking during new student leader’s swearing-in ceremony, Prof. Maranga congratulated the newly elected leaders, led by the association chairperson Malcomx Descartes Odhiambo, urging them to prioritize student welfare and carry out their responsibility with humility, teamwork, integrity, and accountability.
“I urge you to let your leadership be servant-driven, defined by service, dialogue and solutions. Work collaboratively with lecturers, Dean of Students, university management, and fellow students,” she advised.
Prof. Maranga also commended outgoing Multimedia University of Kenya Student Association (MUKSA) officials for their dedicated service, noting that their tenure was marked by stability and maturity.
“I commend the outgoing MUKSA officials for their dedicated service. I equally applaud the entire student body for their peaceful and responsible participation during the election period.”

On his part, Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Geoffrey Kihara, said that the university administration will always remain open to engaging and working with the student leadership.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation Prof. Livingstone Ngoo, also reminded the new leaders to remain grounded in facts and context when making decisions that affect students.

The Dean of Students Dr. Paul, commended the student body for their responsible conduct and political maturity describing that elections were free and fair.

The new chairperson Malcomx Descartes Odhiambo, affirmed the student council’s commitment to addressing key student concerns, including academic advancement, security, hostel matters, and overall student welfare.
He assured that the council would work closely with the university management to ensure these issues are effectively handled.
