Multimedia University of Kenya Chairman of the Council, Dr. Albert Kochei has urged newly elected student leaders to jealously protect the institution’s reputation by embracing a dialogic leadership approach.
Speaking during a meeting that brought together both outgoing and incoming student leaders, Dr. Albert Kochei emphasized that maintaining the university’s image is a shared responsibility that must be taken seriously.

Quoting Proverbs 22:1, he reminded the leaders to “choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold.” He also underscored the importance of unity, teamwork and effective communication among the new leaders.
Dr. Kochei encouraged the students to consult one another and make decisions based on facts, noting that dialogue is a key pillar of effective leadership. “As leaders, it is important for you to embrace dialogue, work as a team, consult each other, and always communicate, particularly in handling issues that impact student welfare,” he added.
He further reminded the leaders not to lose sight of their primary responsibility as students. “I would like to urge you, the new leaders, not to forget your academics even as you take on leadership roles. Manage your time well and ensure you are able to balance both academics and leadership,” said Dr. Kochei.

Dr. Kochei further reaffirmed the university Council and management’s commitment to working closely with the newly elected leaders, assuring them of an open-door policy and readiness for dialogue. “My office, together with the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, and the entire management team, are ready to work with you. Whenever you need our support, feel free to reach out. We will also ensure you receive the necessary training to help you effectively deliver on your mandate for the success of the university,” he said.
