Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology held a stakeholders’ validation workshop to discuss new undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that the faculty is in the process of developing.
The main objective of the workshop was to ensure new academic programmes align with industry demands, gather recommendations for improvement and also ensure that they are aligned with the requirements of the Commission for University Education (CUE).

In his address, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Research and Innovation Prof. Livingstone Ngoo, emphasized the importance of the workshop, noting that it provides a valuable opportunity to reflect, evaluate, and reimagine academic programmes in light of emerging trends, technological advancements and the evolving aspirations of students and society.
“We are living in an era defined by digital transformation, globalization, and complex socio-economic challenges. Universities are therefore required not only to impart knowledge but also to nurture critical thinking, innovation, adaptability, and ethical leadership,” Prof. Ngoo stated.
He further encouraged stakeholders to embrace open dialogue, constructive critique, and forward-looking thinking when reviewing and presenting the programmes. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence, and continuous improvement, noting that the outcomes of the forum will be carefully considered and integrated into the institution’s curriculum review process.

Ag. Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology, Dr. Mutinda Mutisya described the proposed programmes as strategic and thoughtfully designed to address societal needs and respond effectively to contemporary market demands.
Dr. Mutisya also urged qualified MMU alumni and other interested Kenyans to enroll in postgraduate studies once the programmes are launched.
