A. Profile
Dr. Wekesa is an experienced energy practitioner with over fifteen (15) years of experience in energy modelling and auditing. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer of Renewable Energy Technology in the Department of Physics at Multimedia University of Kenya. He has mentored over 20 postgraduate students both at the MSc and PhD level, has published over 70 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored three books in his discipline and has attended and given over 100 presentations at international conferences. His research projects include the European Union-funded Horizon Europe (2025-2029), ERASMUS+ (2024-2028), and the NRF Kenya-funded (2019-2025) research grants. He is a Team Leader at the Renewable Energy Research Consortium (RERC) of the Physics Department at Multimedia University of Kenya. Dr. Wekesa has held leadership positions in the university key among them as Chairman of the Physics Department, Acting Director National Institute for Optics and Lasers, Acting Director Board of Postgraduate Studies, Acting Director Quality Assurance, Acting Dean Faculty of Science and Technology, and currently Director, Directorate of Research and Innovation. In addition, Dr. Wekesa is the current Head of Capacity Building, Research and Development at the Association of Energy Professionals Eastern Africa (AEPEA) and a registered Training of Trainers (ToT) in Renewable Energy Technologies. His vision for the Directorate of Research and Innovation is to promote a research and innovation culture in the entire Multimedia University of Kenya fraternity
