
Kipkemoi Elvis Samuel is a Laboratory Technologist at NIOL, Multimedia University of Kenya, with a specialization in optics and lasers. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Optics and Lasers and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Optics at the same institution.
Since joining NIOL in October 2021, he has played a vital role in laboratory instruction, research support, and technical training. His expertise includes optical alignment, laser safety and management, optical measurements, and general laboratory operations. He is also instrumental in mentoring students and supporting outreach programs that promote optics and photonics education.
Elvis serves as the President of the Multimedia University of Kenya Optical Society (MUKOS), an active SPIE and Optica student chapter. He is a recipient of the SPIE Optics and Photonics Scholarship and an ambassador of MeetOptics, where he helps bridge global optics resources with local communities. He also volunteers with the Elimisha Msichana Elimisha Jamii (EMEJA) Foundation to advance STEM education among girls.
His work focuses on building capacity in optical sciences and supporting innovation in health, education, and communication technologies across the region.
