Members of Multimedia University Staff Pension Scheme today underwent a financial wellness training aimed at equipping them with practical knowledge on personal financial management, retirement planning and long-term wealth creation.
The training, dubbed Financial Wellness Today, was facilitated by financial therapist and director of retirement solutions at Kuza Asset Management Ltd, FA George Oyuga.

The content of the training focused on various strategies and practical demonstrations aimed at helping the staff to develop healthy financial habits that support both their current wellbeing and financial security in retirement.
Mr. Oyuga reminded the staff that financial wellbeing is a critical pillar of overall wellness alongside physical, mental, psychological, social, spiritual and environmental wellbeing, adding that sound financial health enables individuals to live balanced and productive lives while preparing adequately for the future.

He introduced participants to what he termed as WISE(R) Financial Therapy Model, which emphasized five key pillars of financial wellness; building productive relationships, managing earnings responsibly, cultivating disciplined saving habits, making informed investment decisions and creating sustainable wealth that can be passed on to future generations.

Mr. Oyuga encouraged members to check their money dance by evaluating how they earn, save, invest and protect their wealth.
He challenged members to begin retirement planning early, citing longer life expectancy, changing family support systems and the need to avoid old-age poverty, stressing that failing to plan is planning to fail.

The training exercise that was also attended by Ag. Vice Chancellor Prof. Livingstone Ngoo and Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Finance and Planning Prof. Geoffrey Kihara among other staff members, forms part of MMU Staff Pension Scheme’s commitment to empowering members with knowledge and tools necessary to make informed financial decisions, build financial resilience and enjoy a secure and dignified retirement.
